About David Teitelbaum
David F. Teitelbaum holds degrees in economics (University of Michigan)
and mathematics (University of Maryland) and has had a distinguished
career
as an economist for the Federal government over the past 15 years. Prior
to this job, he did defense analysis for Synergy, Inc., and served as
an energy economist for the World Bank, Resources for the Future, Energy
& Environmental Analysis, and H. Zinder & Associates, Inc.
For more than a decade, Teitelbaum has also had a thriving business
as a personal financial planner, advising individuals on saving for retirement,
getting out of debt, investing, and taxes. Discovering his knack for
making
complicated financial subjects simple to understand without being simplistic,
nine years ago he began to write articles to teach readers the
basics
of money management, as well as a more advanced knowledge of stocks,
bonds, and mutual funds. His articles are now published regularly in
several
Virginia newspapers: The King George Journal, The Westmoreland Journal,
The Community Voice, and Center Link.
Prompted by the response to his articles and his mounting realization
of just how many smart and successful people do not have a clue about
what to do to prepare for retirement, Teitelbaum decided it was time to
wake up and shake up baby boomers. The result is his first book, THE PROCRASTINATOR'S
GUIDE TO FINANCIAL SECURITY: How Anyone Over 40 Can Still Build a Strong
Portfolio--and Retire Comfortably (AMACOM; March 2001). Based on his work,
he has been interviewed, both on TV, on Bloomberg and News Channel 8,
and on the radio, on National Public Radio and Business Radio WRC-AM,
to name a few.
